Reduce Emissions Now
Since the Paris agreement set in stone the importance of reducing global greenhouse gas emissions to cap global heating at 1.5 degrees (ie. the target of "Net Zero" emissions by 20250), emissions have continued to rise. 2024 was the first full year of global average temperature exceeding 1.5 degrees, and we are due to exceed 1.5 degrees permanently before 2030.
2025 must be the year we pass peak global emissions and start to make rapid reductions. The science mandates that we strive for near 50% reduction by 2030, and over 90% of current levels by 2050.
