Net Zero Eyecare was established in 2023 as a means to transform the Optical industry.

Too many individuals and businesses have become aware that they need to take action to cut their carbon footprints and to integrate true sustainability into their operations, but too few were aware of what they could or should be doing! They were left, isolated and calling for answers while the climate crisis grew around them.

Net Zero Eyecare emerged to answer that call.

We are a not-for-profit organisation with two core purposes:

- To promote and award certifications of sustainable practice to Optical businesses,

- To facilitate the offsetting of carbon and plastic footprints, transparently, with internationally-verified offsetting schemes.

The outcome of our work is that more businesses throughout the optical industry are able to take meaningful action on the climate crisis and to become more truly sustainable. When businesses start working towards a NZE certification they also all make the same commitment via our Group Statement, which galvanises their purpose and sends a clear message to the wider industry that the time for action has arrived. Thereby, we are catalysing the transition to sustainability throughout the entire Optical industry.
