Powered By Renewables / Powered Without Fossils

Applicable for: Optical Practices and Industry Suppliers

What's the single-biggest impact a business can have, cutting your carbon footprint quickly and supporting a low-carbon future?

Divest from fossil fuels in your electricity supply.

This new certification offers recognition for businesses making that critical switch. "Powered by Renewables" recognises 100% renewable sources in your electricity fuel mix; "Powered Without Fossils" recognises that Nuclear (though not a renewable energy source)  is a zero-carbon energy source that's widely available, and just as welcome in the battle to kick fossil fuels from the energy sector.

Carbon Neutral Event

Applicable for: Suppliers, Event Organisers, Venues.

The Carbon Neutral Event standard has been developed to help businesses address the significant and complex carbon-accounting challenges imposed by events. The travel choices of delegates, carbon footprint of catering, and the Venue’s heat and power supplies, among many other factors, all contribute to emissions but are to varying degrees within and without an organiser's control.

While there is no avoiding the fact that events offer a short but intense contribution to the climate crisis, this standard provides a simple yet comprehensive strategy for quantifying emissions, identifying reductions, and offsetting and event's carbon footprint here and now.

Carbon Neutral National Operations

Applicable for: Manufacturing and Distributing Suppliers

When setting out on their sustainability journey, many manufacturers and distributors alike are daunted by the extent of the global supply chain, international, and up-stream of their core operations.

Carbon Neutral National Operations provides businesses with a means to get to grips with their carbon accounting and reductions opportunities, while utilising a geographical boundary. By focusing, for the time being, on national operations, a business can focus on the operations most within their control and take actions to have the most immediate results - all while starting the conversations necessary to pursue Net Zero Carbon certification (below) which includes the international supply chain.
